The Italian really got off to a dream start in Val d’Isere. She finished with a first and a second-place and now forms the leading duo in the Downhill World Cup together with Suter. Now it is, of course, necessary to confirm the performances shown at the beginning of the season.
Goggia has been involved in the World Cup for some time now, so the 28-year-old knows how to deal with the corresponding tension. In the 2017/18 season, she was able to win the Downhill World Cup. Will the second trick follow this season?

In the preseason she achieved at least one unexpected highlight with a double victory in Crans Montana shortly before the end of the season. Apart from that, there has not been a downhill podium for over two years.
Back to old strength in St. Anton?
Her performance in the first training now gives a little hope that she might be at the front again after all. She set the fastest time on Thursday and now, of course, she would like to deliver a similar performance in the race.
Her shape curve seems too vague to us, however, so that we cannot make predictions on the Swiss woman for the downhill run of the ladies in St. Anton. With an eighth and an eleventh place, their start to the season wasn’t exactly promising either.
🇺🇸 Breezy Johnson
Position in the Downhill World Cup: 3.
The American was the surprise of the downhill races so far, because with two third places the 24-year-old, who had never stood on a downhill podium before, was able to put herself in the limelight.
However, a closer look at their shape curve shows that the most recent successes have already emerged over a number of years. After some top placings in 2018, she was initially thrown back by an injury, now she is back stronger than ever.
Ready for the maiden win soon?
The young American has every chance to soon become one of the best downhill skiers in the world. In any case, the saying “the sky is the limit” fits here. We already see a tip on Johnson as a very interesting outsider option on the descent in St. Anton, especially since she was also able to convince in training.

Position in the Downhill World Cup: 8.
The young Austrian fights her way quietly and secretly towards the top of the world. She has already won several stages in the past races and will soon be ready for the big stage.
In training, she already presented herself excellently, which is why a podium place is certainly feasible. In any case, we have a lot of confidence in the 24-year-old.
Alpine skiing for women in St. Anton – outsiders
Ester Ledecka is now a really great in the speed disciplines. She added one or two World Cup victories to her completely surprising Olympic victory in the Super-G in 2018. She could definitely attack the top positions again in St. Anton.
In the last descent, Lie, a young Norwegian, just barely missed the podium. She was also in excellent shape in training for the coming race and could cause a sensation.
Austrians show in training
Since Thursday training at the latest, one can have legitimate hopes for a home win in Austria, because in advance some runners presented themselves in excellent shape.
