Swiss home win at Chuenisbärgli?
For alpine skiers, things are going in quick succession at the moment. Four races in five days are on the program from Wednesday to Sunday. Those who present themselves in good shape can collect many World Cup points. The other way around, you can lose a lot of ground within a few days. The giant slalom runs in Adelboden continue on Friday and Saturday before another slalom is held there on Sunday.
Around the Chuenisbärgli, the host Swiss on RTL is hoping for a home win again after twelve years. Marco Odermatt is considered a favourite by the best bookmakers for the giant slalom in Adelboden. Marco Odermatt is only 23 years old, but he is the new frontman for Swiss alpinists. There is no question that the future belongs to him as an all-rounder. The only open date is when the Swiss will be able to compete for the large crystal ball for the overall World Cup. This winter could at least be enough for the discipline classification in the giant slalom.
Odermatt on the RTL already three times on the podium
At the moment the Swiss are ahead there. In addition to his victory in Santa Caterina, he was second in Sölden and third in another race in Santa Caterina. This makes Marco Odermatt the most successful RTL driver of the winter. In Alta Badia before Christmas, he only missed the podium with fourth place.

No less than the overall World Cup is the Frenchman’s goal again this year. By breaking off the season last winter, he was virtually robbed of this triumph. Now he’s attacking again and is currently at the top of the overall standings. The giant slalom is one of his special disciplines, so he has to collect a lot of points there.
The Frenchman scored very consistently on RTL this winter. In the four races, he always finished in the top 5. This puts it in a good second place in the discipline ranking. Most recently in Alta Badia, he won his first giant slalom win of the winter. Overall, Alexis Pinturault has celebrated 15 World Cup victories in the giant slalom in his career.

Filip Zubcic already had one of the personal highlights of the season on Wednesday when he sensationally finished fifth at the slalom in Zagreb on the Bärenberg, considering that the Croatian is actually a pure giant slalom specialist. Obviously, you have to expect the 27-year-old in the upcoming slaloms this winter, but no later than next year.
But it is best rated in the giant slalom. In Sölden at the season opener and most recently in Alta Badia things didn’t really go well for the Croatian. Not even a single-digit place came around in these two races. On the other hand, he was all the stronger in Santa Caterina when he even put two exclamation points in first and third place.
Podium for Zubcic last year
In Adelboden, Filip Zubcic was following the music for many years until the knot burst there last winter. He finished second behind the Slovenian Zan Kranjec. That is why single-digit odds are offered for a Croatian victory in the men’s giant slalom in Adelboden, even though he is not necessarily the first choice on the ticket.

When we talk about high-potential candidates on the Chuenisbärgli, then we can’t avoid Henrik Kristoffersen. The Norwegian has not yet made his personal peace with RTL in Adelboden. While he has already won the slalom twice, he still lacks triumph in the giant slalom. He has been on the podium four times in the last five years.
To assess Kristoffersen more strongly in the slalom
This balance also makes it clear what to think of the Norwegian this year. In slalom, he is stronger than in giant slalom. We won’t see Kristoffersen as an early contender. For that, you have to keep an eye on last year’s winner Zan Kranjec, even if the Slovenian fell short of expectations this winter.
Tommy Ford, Lucas Braathen, local hero Loic Meillard or the aspiring Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath should still be on the list. We will probably not see Austrians in Adelboden in the area of the podium.
