Biathlon Oberhof Sprint 01/13/2021: favorites, tips & odds

Bö has strong competition from his own team

The biathlon world cup in Oberhof, Germany, is entering the next round. The world’s elite met in Thuringia last weekend, and the next showdown will take place on Wednesday.

The men’s second week in Germany starts with a sprint over 10 kilometres. At the biathlon sprint in Oberhof, the betting odds only provide for one real favourite, because the best bookmakers primarily have Johannes Thingnes Bö on their bill.

All other starters, on the other hand, are already equipped with high odds and thus form more interesting betting options, because the favourite is by no means unbeatable despite its recent successes.

At least the victory should remain firmly in Norwegian hands even if Bö is overthrown because the competition comes mainly from their own camp. Of the other nations, the French are most likely to deliver a surprise, as they are still looking to join the world’s elite in the first season after superstar Fourcade retired.

We can also recommend our extensive sports betting advice to all interested parties in advance because there you can find a lot of information about betting.

The favourites at the biathlon sprint in Oberhof on January 13th, 2021

Johannes Thingnes Bö

🇳🇴 Johannes Thingnes Bö
Position in the World Cup: 1.

The leader in the World Cup has been the measure of all things since Fourcade’s resignation. With his victory in the 10-kilometre sprint last Friday, he brought himself into the bookmakers’ field of vision once again. Now everyone assumes that the Norwegian will repeat this feat. It would be his 26th victory in a sprint.

Will Bö make the 10-kilometre double?

Of course, we also have to state that his chances of being successful in the coming competition are anything but bad. However, the season so far has shown that Bö is not necessarily unbeatable, so he has only been successful in two of the previous five sprint competitions.

Accordingly, from our point of view, betting on the World Cup leader at odds of 1.70 for the biathlon sprint in Oberhof is not an option, because the competition is strong and offers excellent odds.

Betting Tips: Laegreid wins
Odds: 12.00

Tarjei Bo

🇳🇴 Tarjei Bö
Position in the World Cup: 4th

This winter, the veteran has again demonstrated his sporting consistency and is not even 100 points behind the leader in the World Cup. With his victory in the sprint at the beginning of December, he proved that at 32 years of age he is still a long way from being old.

Oldie wants to get back to the front

Now Tarjei was able to land another top result with a second place in the first sprint in Oberhof, the overall World Cup winner of 2011 is officially in top form and the bookmakers have him on the radar with an odds of 9.00. At the biathlon sprint in Oberhof, a tip on the warrior is definitely worth considering, but the competition is by no means sleeping.

 Johannes Dale

🇳🇴 Johannes Dale
Position in the World Cup: 3rd

Dale is the youngster in the field and sometimes entertains the audience with his youthful aggressiveness. This brought him his first sprint win of the season in Hochfilzen, Austria, when he failed to make a mistake at the shooting range.

Youngster on the way to the top

With one penalty, however, he “only” finished fifth in the last Oberhof sprint, and Dale is now determined to improve. In his case, the bookmakers could gamble a bit with the offered odds of 12, because the 23-year-old is certainly capable of a lot. From our point of view, a bet on him is certainly worth the risk given the sensational odds.

Sturla Holm Laegreid

🇳🇴 Sturla Holm Laegreid
Position in the World Cup: 2.

The fourth Norwegian among the top performers, like his colleagues, is in very good shape. With a third place in the sprint and a victory in the pursuit, his Oberhof record so far is very respectable. Nevertheless, Laegreid would of course like to polish up his personal gains even further. For him, the trip to Germany could pay off in a big way.

Lagreid new to the top of the world and already extremely dangerous

Lagreid is only 23 years old and is, therefore, a real youngster in the starting field. The fact that his best final placement in the overall World Cup is the 43rd place speaks for his development last summer.

If he stays without a penalty loop, as in the last two individual competitions, then anything is possible for him on Wednesday. In the sprint, it would be only the second victory for the newcomer to the top of the world. He too can boast excellent odds at the biathlon sprint in Oberhof and, in our opinion, is probably the hottest candidate for a winning bet.

Biathlon Sprint in Oberhof on January 13th, 2021 – an outsider

The Swede Ponsiluoma has not yet landed a win of the season but is on the list of bookmakers due to his sixth place in the last sprint in Oberhof. We hardly trust the seventh in the overall standings to win, because his previous performances were simply not compelling enough.

France not at the top yet

The big challenges of the Norwegian overwhelming power are probably the French, who have some interesting personalities in their ranks. In the sprint, however, the “Grand Nation” is still without a win. In the last competition, a seventh and an eighth-place for Desthieux and Claude were the greatest of emotions.

After all, Maillet was able to achieve an individual victory for his team in a pursuit race. The success in the mixed relay last Sunday also showed that it is a collectively compact team. From our point of view, the French have not yet reached the top of their performance level and are out of the question for winning bets at the biathlon sprint in Oberhof.

Homeowners with a poor record

The German team has already seen better times because you are looking in vain for an athlete in black, red and gold among the top ten in the World Cup. With Arnd Pfeiffer, there is at least one winner of the season in the home races. His betting odds, however, amount to a value of 26.00, which virtually excludes a win on Wednesday. For the time being, smaller rolls must be baked in the hosts’ warehouse.

Prediction & betting base trend – who will win the sprint in Oberhof on January 13th, 2021?

If you believe the odds at the biathlon sprint in Oberhof, then there is no way around the overall World Cup winner of the last two years. After all, Thingnes Bö has already recorded two sprint wins and his consistent performance leads us to assume another win in the overall standings.

Key facts – Biathlon in Oberhof – Tips

Thingnes Bö is ahead in the World Cup
The Norwegian youngster’s Dale and Laegreid have made their way into the world’s elite
The chances of a home win are close to zero on Wednesday

However, the youngsters from his own team are really getting on his back, because with Dale and Laegreid two other Norwegians have now reached the top of the world. Both have already won a sprint this season and are now looking forward to the next big coup.

Especially on Laegreid, a justified prediction can be made at the biathlon sprint in Oberhof, as it occasionally remained flawless in both German individual competitions at the shooting range. His betting odds of 12.00 impressed us completely and gives us hope for the 23-year-old’s success.
