Manchester United suffered another midweek setback as they lost 3-1 at home to Manchester City in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, with a first-half performance widely described as their worst performance in years.
In all honesty, it could have been a much bigger margin of defeat, and once again casts threatening shadows over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at the club.
However, things have gone a little better in the Premier League, with just two defeats in their last 10 league games and five wins to bolster their points tally. This leaves the Red Devils in fifth place in the table, five points behind the top four.
In the Premier League, they are unbeaten since a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in August, although they have won only half of their eight games since then and have a big problem at the back.
Man Utd have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven home league games and in only one of their last 16 top-flight home and away matches.
