Before the last matchday in the group stage of the Champions League, many groups are still concerned with who will advance and who will be allowed to spend the winter in the premier class.
While some clubs, including Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, are already looking forward to the knockout round, the other German representatives still have to tremble.

Who will progress in Champions League Group A?
From the defending champion’s point of view, everything is already clear. Bayern Munich were the sure group winners even before the 5th matchday at Atletico Madrid.
Behind Bayern, who can remain unbeaten in a CL group stage for the third time in a row, two clubs are still fighting for a place in the knockout round.
In a direct duel, RB Salzburg receives Atletico Madrid. With currently 4 points, the Austrians absolutely need a victory to overtake the Spanish capitals (6). In the first leg of Madrid, there was a close 3-2 for the home team.
Lokomotiv Moscow has already retired. However, the Russians can still win a place in the Europa League against Bayern Munich with a victory and a simultaneous defeat in Salzburg.

Champions League games: who will come next in Group B?
Group B is particularly interesting from a German perspective.
Borussia Mönchengladbach leads the group with 8 points and still has to tremble before the last game. At Real Madrid (7), one point is enough for advancement.
That worked well in the first leg. At home in Borussia Park, the game ended late 2-2 after a strong performance. Despite mixed performances in the 2020/21 season, Real is the clear favourite with bookmakers.
In view of the previous Gladbach Champions League games, there is definitely value in an away tip.
The Gladbachers will always have a look at the parallel game. If Inter Milan (5) and Shakhtar Donetsk (7) only play a draw, even a defeat against Real is enough to advance.

Champions League Group D: Who will reach the round of 16?
Since the 1-0 win against Ajax Amsterdam on matchday five, it has been clear that Liverpool has prevailed as group winners.
The English champion has 12 points and can therefore no longer be caught. At the very end, FC Midtjylland has no chance of progressing with one point.
It will be exciting in the direct duel in the middle of the table. The Dutch record champions Ajax welcomes Atalanta Bergamo. The home team has to win because it is currently one point behind the Italians.
Ajax spared many regulars in their defeat against Twente at the weekend, while Atalanta’s appearance at Udinese Calcio was cancelled.
Since the Italians could not build on the strong performances from 2019/20 in the current season, it is questionable whether it will be enough against the favoured Ajax.

CL group E: Chelsea and Sevilla are on
By far the most boring group before the final CL match day is Group E. The final positions 1 to 4 have all been cleared since the last matchday.

FK Krasnodar and Stade Rennes follow in third and fourth place. The last Champions League games of this division between Chelsea and Krasnodar and Rennes – Sevilla are completely irrelevant.
BVB is in CL Group F, fighting for group victory
In Group F, Borussia Dortmund is right at the front. The Westphalia have already collected ten points and the round of 16 participation.
At Zenit St. Petersburg it is still about winning the group. Since the Russians no longer have a chance of a third-place, BVB is strongly favoured by betting providers.

That FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin would progress in a group with Ferencvaros Budapest and Dynamo Kyiv is not exactly a sensation.

At Barca – Juve, the guests already need a 3-1 win to make up the three-point deficit after the 2-0 deficit in the first leg. Given the current form of the Italian serial champion, that is rather unlikely.

At the weekend, the team lost in La Liga against newly-promoted Cadiz. The betting providers still see Barca slightly ahead.

Will RB Leipzig progress in Group H?
The Champions League games in Group H promise a lot of excitement on the 6th game.
Three teams, including RB Leipzig, are still fighting for progress in this preliminary round group. The Nagelsmann-Elf meets Manchester United in the home stadium.
After the exciting 3: 3 at Bayern Munich at the weekend, RB should have enough self-confidence to offer the guests a big fight. In the first leg this did not succeed at Old Trafford. At 0: 5, RB had no chance.
