Reigning Slovakian champion Spartak Trnava scored the big surprise of the first leg, defeating Legia 2-0 in Warsaw. The Slovakian club had been beaten by Senica during the first day of their championship (1-0) and they had suffered a lot to get the Bosnians Zrinjski in the first round of the playoffs of C1 (1-0 and 1- 1). However, Spartak Trnava chained this weekend by a second consecutive victory, winning against Zlate Moravce at home (1-0).
The reigning Polish triple champion, Legia Warsaw, easily beat the Cork City Irish in the first round of qualifying (2-0-1 and 3-0 wins). However, the Poles lost at home against Zaglebie Lubin (1-3) for the first day of their national championship, before falling again at home against Spartak Trnava. The Legia Varsovia has recovered this weekend by winning away in the championship against Korona Kielce.
