FIFA 20 Ultimate Team: How to avoid Weekend League defeats

The Weekend League is still the most profitable mode at FIFA Ultimate Team. 30 games are all about winning as many wins as possible and earning lucrative rewards.

FUT Champions, as the Weekend League is officially called, may be profitable, but almost every game is fiercely competitive and nerve-racking, so that little things can decide about victory and defeat.

While your own performance in games is the most important factor in winning them, there are a few tips apart from virtual turf that you should consider and mistakes that you should definitely avoid:

1. Music and commentators

Sky commentators Wolff-Christoph Fuss and Frank Buschmann may be excellent commentators, but unfortunately they are not at FIFA. The reporters make numerous mistakes, you will have heard a lot of strange assessments of scenes and the career history of your icons. In order not to be distracted from this, it is advisable to switch off the sound entirely, only to switch to stadium tones or, if one cannot do without commentators, to listen to commentators from other countries.

However, in order not to completely forego the acoustic, many players resort to their favorite music. But here, too, many genres of gaming are not necessarily recommended. If your players again miss out on countless big chances, your goalkeeper would have stayed better in bed again or the referee is not on your side, music by Kollegah and Farid Bang and the 187 street gang will not calm you down – on the contrary: it will only help you make more aggressive, which leads to easy mistakes. Instead, podcasts, audio books or relaxing music are recommended. Ultimately, of course, you have to decide for yourself what is the best music for you during the Weekend League.

2. Eating and drinking

An important rule to keep in mind is not to start a game hungry or thirsty. Every mistake made by your players hits your mind even more when you’re hungry. It is also advisable to always have water within reach. A sip from the bottle while the repetition of your leadership gate is in progress quenches your thirst, helps concentration and boosts your self-confidence. You can also prepare snacks such as pretzel sticks. You should avoid chips, however, because they are too greasy. Your controller will thank you.

3. Fatigue

Lack of sleep has many effects. The much-needed concentration decreases, motivation and mood decrease. If the night before was short, coffee and lots of exercise between games will help you to counteract this. In the late evening, you should make sure that you have a good end to the day early. Note that no one likes to go to bed with a defeat. With increasing tiredness, several defeats can quickly follow each other.

4. Time pressure

Playing a game quickly under time pressure is not helpful, it just puts you under even more pressure to end the game quickly. If extension threatens, the opponent takes a lot of time in standard situations and shots, that doesn’t keep you cool, but upsets you internally, which leads to dissatisfaction, nervousness and thus mistakes.

5. Adequate breaks

Breaks are extremely important in the Weekend League. You should stop immediately if you experience frustration and anger. Sure, you want to quickly correct the unfortunate defeat from the previous game, but this will make your game less precise and incorrect, so the next defeat is likely. In addition, you become blind when judging the games, you only search for the mistakes in the game and not in yourself. Even after victories, you should come to a rest. Games that were on the edge of a knife are tiring on the nerves, but can be reflected with joy again during breaks.

6. Smartphone and streams

You should refrain from handling technical devices that can distract you while gaming. Just writing to your colleague how bad your opponent is, watching a stream on the side or checking Instagram and Snapchat for what’s new will not help you but will only distract you. Better put it off on your breaks.
