ESL One Germany 2020 offers exciting quarter-finals between the top teams in Europe and the CIS region, here are our predictions for the first four playoff games:

Team Secret was without a doubt the best team of 2020. And their lead over the rest of the professional DOTA scene is enormous. Puppey and his squad have won no fewer than eight trophies this year, and in all likelihood, they will take home their ninth title at the event. In our opinion, there is no team that can stop them, with perhaps one exception: Alliance. Gustav “s4” Magnusson’s team is also light years behind Secret in terms of team coordination and understanding the current meta.

With a win in the last game, they finally made it to the finals of the tournament with a 3-2 record. These two teams met in this tournament in the first round of the group stage. Liquid won this game 2-0 and then had a great run. Only Secret managed to beat them in the group stage. In their games against Na’Vi and 5men, the Liquid players showed a dominant performance. Based on these results, it can be assumed that Liquid will also be the favourite in this series against Mudgolems.
Even if Mudgolems have two enormously experienced players in their ranks with the German DOTA veteran Adrian “FATA” Trinks and his long-time teammate Neta “33” Shapira, the rest of the squad lacks the experience and, to be honest, the class too to survive against the absolute best in the world. They usually shine against weaker opponents, but when it comes to the big teams, they regularly have problems getting their style of play to roll.
It will not be an easy game for Team Liquid and we think that Mudgolems can definitely decide a game for themselves, but in the end, Team Liquid should prevail and delegate FATA and his colleagues to the lower bracket.

OG completed a relatively relaxed group stage at ESL One Germany 2020, but their results are not exactly meant for the playoff games. The opponents they faced were comparatively weak, the only exception being their game against Alliance, and here they lost 2-1. Vikin.gg was the biggest challenge here, while the other two teams are extremely weak for this level of competition.

OG is not part of the line-up of the two-time TI winners, but the team has to be considered one of the strongest in the tournament and we think they will just win their quarter-final against Natus Vincere.

Besides Team Secret, Alliance is the only team that made it through the group stage without a defeat, and in contrast to Secret, who had a comparatively easy draw, they were able to beat top teams like NiP and OG at this tournament. So we don’t expect them to lose to a much weaker opponent. Alliance star Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov and the rest of his team are clearly in great shape and will likely make it to the podium at this tournament.
Vikin.gg have what it takes to win a game against Alliance, but in a best-of-3 series like this quarter-final game, everything speaks for a victory for Alliance.
