China has invested heavily in the domestic championship, but the fruits are still far away, at least internationally. However, with Marcello Lippi in command, China has even shown itself well in the World Cup qualifying campaign, finishing fifth (out of 6), but at a single point in the barrage position.

The first China Cup match was a disaster, 0-6 with Wales, a European-dominated game where Bale gave a “triple”. Although the stars Wu, Gao or Yu did not miss the first 11, the Asians did not create a lot of opportunities to score.

The Chinese have more to lose from this dispute than their opponents and will shoot harder.
